august favorites: take a breath, this is a big one!

No lengthy intro needed for this post - I'm just gonna dive right in! These are the things I've loved this past month.  Enjoy! :)

CREAM BLUSHES!

elf Heartbreaker
YSL Creme de Blush #1 Velvety Peach
YSL #2 Powdery Rose
MAC Something Special

In case you're curious, I use a MAC 130 brush to apply cream blush. Sometimes I set them with NARS Sex Appeal blush (a pale pinky peach) to make them last even longer.

Favorite foundations are still Bourjois Healthy Mix (51) and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (B10).

Dior Aurora - I've already hit pan! ;(

NARS Lola Lola e/s
Laura Mercier Chocolate e/s
MAC Lord It Up pearlglide eyeliner
Maybelline Forest gel liner
MAC Sand & Sun e/s
Maybelline Eye Studio Strut it Suede quad

Benefit They're Real mascara
YSL Rouge Pur Couture #6
C.O. Bigelow Lemon & Ginger tinted lip balm
Shu Uemura Supreme Matte lipstick in Darling Beige

MAC Mischievous Mint
Essie Topless & Barefoot
Sephora by OPI Spark-tacular top coat

Redken Guts 10

This spray foam adds crazy volume without making my hair stiff. It has a non-offensive, clean cucumber scent.  This is a mini bottle, but I plan to buy the full-size when the baby runs out!

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh
Demeter My Melody
Philosophy Aloha Girl (Vanilla Coconut) body lotion
Escada Taj Sunset

Daisy Eau So Fresh and Taj Sunset are both fruity florals -- very summery! My Melody is a sweet almond pastry scent.  As with most Demeter scents, it doesn't last, but I don't mind because it's so delicious before it fades!

CANDLES!

Autumn Leaves (Yankee)
Pumpkin Caramel Latte (Slatkin)
Hot Chocolate (Slatkin)
Cinnamon Sugared Donut (Slatkin)
Caramel Apple (Slatkin)

I've gone candle crazy over the past two months.  With the arrival of fall scents at Yankee and Bath & Body Works, I've been in yummy scent heaven.  The Slatkin fall scents have really won me over.  My favorite is Hot Chocolate, which smells just the real thing.

I love me some Special K! Chocolatey Delight is my all-time favorite.  I love it for breakfast but it's also great as a snack!  Mouse loves cereal, too -- well, the milk at the bottom of the bowl anyways! :)

I've done a lot of reading this past month! I finished one book per week the past three weeks.  My mom can read a book a day - if only I were so lucky!  I have loads of books on my to-read list. Next up is Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

Okay, I think that's all of my favorites from the past month.  What were your favorites?  I'd love to hear about them! :)

Thanks for reading!

xoxo,
<3 Jess

  1. I really, really want to try the YSL cream blushes they looks gorgeous!
The thing I really hate about cream blushes though (or most cream products which you apply with a brush) is that they get hairs stuck in them :( Which looks scruffy haha xx

  4. I love the Slatkin candles! I just picked up 6 of the minis for $10 - they are perfect as I get sick of scents after about a week. Also, love the Hunger Games! Cannot wait for the movie :)

  5. Thanks for the book recommendations! I'm reading House of Night and feeling meh about the rest of the Sookie Stackhouse books. Which of the above did you like best? Taj Sunset smells so yummy :)

  9. Hi ladies! Thank you for your comments!

Summer - I hate that too, but the MAC 130 has never shed a single hair! I'm not sure if it was limited edition or if it's still available, but I highly recommend it! That one and the 217 (blending brush) are must-haves, in my opinion. :)

Alex - Have you read all three Hunger Games books? I just finished the first one, but I'm curious if the rest of the series lives up to that one!

Sarah - Incredibly Alice is book 26 of a series I've been reading since 4th grade, so I probably wouldn't recommend that one! Hunger Games was intense and really quick to read. Don't Breathe a Word is a suspense/fantasy with a bit of horror mixed in. It's Jennifer McMahon's fourth suspense book, and I've read and loved them all! My favorite of hers is Island of Lost Girls, though, so I'd recommend that first! If you want, you can e-mail me @ jewel1996@aol.com if you want to chat more about books - I could go on all day! >_<
