by request: fotd using the chanel ombres perlees palette

FACE: NARS Sheer Glow (Mont Blanc), YSL Touche Eclat (under eyes), YSL pressed powder, Tokidoki Siberia blush, YSL Metallic Colorama face highlighter

EYES: Chanel Ombres Perlees palette (pink shade on lid/brow highlight/inner corners, green shade in crease),  MAC On the Hunt superslick liner, MAC I Get No Kick eye kohl, UD Sin 24/7 shadow pencil (inner corners), MAC Lingering brow pencil, Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara

LIPS: YSL Rouge Volupte #19 Frivolous Pink

I was also wearing the Chanel Ombres Perlees palette here and here if you're interested. :) I think it's a beautiful palette - the texture of the shadows is super soft and they all have a unique, pearly/shimmery finish (if you prefer mattes, this probably isn't for you). One thing I will say about it is that it's not something I reach for every day - some days it's just too frosty for me.  But whenever I do reach for it, I'm not disappointed! :)

Hope this was helpful if you've been lemming this palette!

Thanks for reading!

haul & swatches, part two (tokidoki, forever 21, revlon, yankee, etc.)

Here's part two, as promised. I'm just gonna jump right in...

Sephora: Tokidoki Bellina blush in Skate Girl, Donutella gelato lip balm, Bellina blush in Siberia

I got the Siberia blush a few weeks ago from Sephora's website, and I've been SO OBSESSED (as you can gather from my recent FOTD posts) that I had to go to the store and see the other one.  Of course, I loved that one too.  I've tried quite a few Tokidoki products and I haven't been that impressed, but the new stuff is awesome! These blushes are great quality, and I love the kawaii packaging, too.  I think the Donutella lip balm is very nice, too.  I prefer a nude lip most days, but this balm is very moisturizing and leaves a nice faint stain as it fades.  I wore it to work the other day, but I think it was too bright - I think I'll save this for the summer!

Tokidoki Bellina blushes in Skate Girl and Siberia

Top: Skate Girl left side, right side
Middle: Siberia left side, right side
Bottom: Skate Girl blended (sorry for the sloppy swatch! lol), Siberia blended

Forever21 Love & Beauty Enchanting eye palette (going to save this for a friend - the colors are really nice neutrals), oversized teddy bear necklace (loooove - wore in my last OOTD post; his joints are studded in the back), Love & Beauty highlight/bronzer powder (has a really pretty gold glitter overspray)

Target leather studded bracelet, B&BW Carried Away travel-size lotion (free!), Revlon Primrose lipstick (this shade is always sold out, so when I saw one on the shelf at Target, I grabbed it without a thought..), Clarins Instant Light lip perfector #3 (thinking I should've gotten #2, but I do really like it), OPI Sparklicious nail polish (gift from Mama), FairyDrops Scandal Queen mascara - how cute is this packaging?

wearing FairyDrops Scandal Queen mascara & Revlon Primrose lipstick

I think Primrose is SO pretty! I imagine this would suit pretty much any skin tone - it's such a nice shade. I always get nervous with drugstore products, because you can't swatch them before buying, but this did NOT disappoint!

wearing Tokidoki Donutella gelato lip balm

Yankee Candles in Midnight Oasis (smells just like Paco Rabbane 1 Million cologne, which I love) and Pink Lady Slipper (a powdery floral - I go back and forth on whether I actually like this....) - these were buy one, get one 50% off, and a Lalaloopsy doll I got for Valentine's Day from my parents - I love her. :D

Love you guys! See you soon. :)

haul & swatches, part one (ysl, revlon, lush, b&bw, urban decay, etc.)

I've been putting off posting this stuff for AGES, and since I did some swatches (even lip swatches! miracle!!), I decided I'd better split it into two separate posts, so it's not just one massive photo explosion on your screen! haha  Obviously this is a collective haul of sorts, from the past month or so.  Enjoy!!

Heartbreaker on DVD (french w/subtitles - I lovelovelove this movie!), Pixi Lip & Line in Pale Petal, Sally Hansen nail art pen (black), OPI Last Friday Night (gift from Mom!), Revlon Peach Petal & Lilac Pastille Super Lustrous lip glosses, Revlon Peony Colorburst lip gloss, Lush It's Raining Men shower gel, Lush The Comforter shower gel (limited edition and only available to my local store, so I was suckered into the large size!), Lush Angel's Delight soap (HUGE piece for 50% off - good deal!)

Pixi Lip & Line in Pale Petal - it's pretty dry - see how flaky my lips look?? (and they weren't dry before applying...) I do like the shade, though.

Top Row: Chanel Rouge Extrait de Gloss in Genie (for comparison), Revlon Papaya, Strawberry, & Peony colorburst lip glosses
Bottom Row: Revlon Peach Petal and Lilac Pastille Super Lustrous lip glosses

YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick #24 Blond Ingenu and Boots Natural Collection lipstick in Apple Blossom - my friend Sam in Edinburgh sent these to me! <3

Anyone who follows me on twitter (I'm @dontcallmejesse if you'd like to!) probably knows I was obsessive in my hunt for this YSL lipstick.  I'm so lucky to have a fab friend who scooped it up and sent it to me, along with the Boots lipstick I'd been lemming for ages.  Even with shipping, it wasn't much more than I would've paid here in the States.  If you're reading this, thanks Sam!

YSL Blond Ingenu on the lips (wearing only that, mascara, pajamas, and 2nd day hair! haha)

YSL Blond Ingenu close-up - see the slight shimmer?

Crabtree & Evelyn Clotted Cream Fudge and Butter Hazelnut Biscuits canisters, product samples (freebies), Vanilla Creme Brulee lip butter

close-up of the Vanilla Creme Brulee lip butter

I practically *never* set foot in Crabtree & Evelyn, but I'm so glad I did that day! The lip butter is so delicious and moisturizing (not at all sticky) and the canisters for the biscuits and fudges are SO ADORABLE. I was definitely suckered in by the packaging - it was an added bonus that they were filled with yummy tea snacks!

Bath & Body Works: Carried Away mini body spray ($2), home fragrance refills in Sandalwood Vanilla, Pomegranate Lemonade, Frosted Cupcake, and Sparkling Mojito (4 for $20 - 20% off total purchase)

I'm using the Frosted Cupcake and Sparkling Mojito right now and they both smell amazing! I prefer these 100 times over the candles.

Urban Decay Sin 24/7 shadow pencil

Basically if it's by Urban Decay and it's called Sin, I must have it.  I love their Sin eyeshadow and Sin primer potion, too (my favorite eyelid primer).

Ignore the lipstick swatch on the left!
Urban Decay Sin 24/7 shadow pencil, UD Sin primer potion, MAC I Get No Kick eye kohl (bottom)

I didn't even think to swatch Sin eyeshadow - oops!

Okay, ladies, I'll be back with part two shortly - hope you're having a great week so far!

xoxo,
<3 Jess

more fotds, an ootd, and a valentine's surprise

Hi there, lovelies!! It's been really gorgeous here in Florida the past few days, so I did lots of picture-taking on my days off! I thought I'd share my FOTDs first, but tomorrow I've got a collective haul post of sorts to share.  I'd wanted to do a January Favorites, but it's too long overdue now.  I think I'm going to do a "Things I'm Loving"-type post, a la Vivianna's, in the coming week, so keep watch for that. :)

Sure to be in the Things I'm Loving Post are the new Tokidoki Bellina blushes, Siberia and Skate Girl, which I used in these looks. I've also rediscovered my MAC Blacktrack fluidline - it's so perfect, I'm wondering why I ever strayed??  And of course, NARS Sheer Glow and YSL Rouge Pur Couture #6 are pretty much daily staples (the lippie is what I wear to work every day, too - it never dries at the center of my lips and it's the perfect goes-with-everything shade).

I also wanted to show you this lovely surprise I received in the mail today from my best friend/cousin Amy.  I was never one to go crazy over Valentine's Day, but it's the first time I've been single for it in six years, so let's just say... I wasn't exactly looking forward to it. But this perked me right up.  Don't you love receiving a sweet surprise package in the mail? It's one of my all-time favorite things, I tell you (and I love sending them, too)!

(sorry for the scribble - didn't want my address out there for all to see!)

I've already made my way through half of these babies - oops!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day! (Even if you hate Valentine's Day, just remember - discounted candy and chocolate on the 15th!) See you all soon!

are you ready for a stockpile of FOTDs?

Hello ladies! I've been such a blogging slacker lately. I've been taking loads of photos, but I wanted to get my January Favorites post up first; howeeeeever, it's been so dark during the day lately, it's utter crap for taking product photos! Anyways, excuses aside, I decided to just go ahead and post some of the pictures I DO have.

So, here's a cluttered stockpile of some of my recent looks.  I'll be posting a FOTD using the Chanel Ombres Perles palette - requested by my Twitter bff Tiffany! - soon as well (if you can't wait, you can see me wearing it here and here).

Besides January Favorites, I also have another haul (seriously, another one? Someone help me?) for your viewing pleasure. Hopefully they'll both be up by the end of the week - if not, someone give me a swift kick!

On to the FOTDs!

*In every look I'm wearing NARS Sheer Glow foundation, MAC Superslick liner in On the Hunt, MAC Lingering brow pencil, MAC I Get No Kick eye kohl in the inner corners, YSL Metallic Colorama as a cheek highlight, and Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara unless otherwise noted!*
