face of the day: a mix of mostly new & neglected

Happy Easter, beautiful people! <3

Mondays tend to be my play-with-makeup day, and this past one was no different. I felt like using some products (eye products in particular) that I've been neglecting, as well as some products I'd just recently acquired.

I feel like this kind of eye makeup is really great for those who, like me!, have hooded eyelids (lids that aren't very visible when eyes are open). I think us hooded-eye girls can get away with eye looks like this for work even. Just. Don't. Blink. (kidding...)

Oh, and one more thing. I'm going to talk about it in my favorites video for sure, but can I take a second here to rave about my beloved Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H.  I mean, this stuff is magic in a bottle. I've never gotten so many compliments on my skin, and I can credit this foundation and some great skincare products (La Roche-Posay!) for that.

I've tried applying it many ways, but I feel like it blends best when applied with fingers. The shade range is great (I was actually a darker shade than I thought I'd be - this stuff does NOT oxidize!).  I feel like it would let beautiful things like freckles show through, while evening out skintone and just making it look... better. It doesn't cake or separate (even my favorites tend to separate around my nose - this one doesn't). I also don't pick up a scent, which is great, because my skin does NOT like scented face products (not to mention, why does anyone want their face to smell like flowers??). So, to sum it up, love this stuff loooads. I'd definitely recommend picking up a sample if you get the opportunity!

FACE

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H
YSL Touche Eclat #1
Sephora + Pantone Universe Blush Duo (Desert Flower/left shade)
YSL Metallic Colorama face highlighter

EYES

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Edgy Emerald
MAC Surf USA e/s (lid)
MAC Cross-Cultural e/s (crease)
MAC Sand & Sun e/s (brow highlight)
MAC Firecracker e/s (lower lashline)
Urban Decay Jones e/s (lower lashline, inner corners)
Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner in #11**
NARS Larger Than Life liner in Rue Bonaparte
Urban Decay 24/7 liner in El Dorado
Maybelline The Falsies Flared mascara
Maybelline Master Shape Brow in Light Brown

LIPS

Tom Ford lipstick in Nude Vanille
Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Cream in White Russian

**I was reminded why I stopped using this. It's a beautiful shade, but it's too liquid-y in consistency, and it's hard to build up the color. I prefer MAC's Dark Diversion fluidline, which is a similar deep burgundy shade, but far more opaque and buildable, if a bit more of a process to apply.

  4. Lovely pictures! I love Tom Ford's Nude Vanilla and have been thinking about getting Buxom's White Russian for awhile...do you find that it separates on the lips (it did on my hand when I tested it)? If it doesn't, then I may have to purchase because it is such a perfect pale color : )

    1. It's more sheer than the other shades, but I don't notice any separating when wearing it over a nude lipstick - and it works very well with nudes! Revlon released one in the Colorburst line called Bellini, which I'm really loving right now, too! I swatched both in my last post!

  6. I freaking LOVE your eye makeup here! Green looks so good on you! And I pretty much always think this even when I don't say it, but you always have the most perfect looking winged liner. So jealous. I need to look into getting a sample of this miracle foundation you keep speaking of. Your skin's been looking even more amazing than usual lately :) Love you!

    1. I feel naked without winged liner! My eyes just look wrong without it! haha It's such a great foundation! My first impression was that it didn't live up to its claims, but it turns out it was the moisturizer I was using that particular day (too heavy). It really blends nicely and doesn't settle into fine lines, cake up, or dissolve around the nose area (you know I hate that!). It's also a perfect shade match - that can make all the difference in the world! Aaand it's unscented, and SPF 15, but doesn't give my skin a cast. Can I go on any more?? lol Get a sample, for sure!
