A closer look....

swatched in the same order as above pic
I think the consistency and shade of the Lancome's Pale Petal is very similar to that of my favorite lipstick, YSL Rouge Pur Couture #6. Pale Petal is a bit more pink, while the YSL is more peach, and I prefer the packaging and scent/taste of YSL, though Lancome's fades fairly quickly. I think Pale Petal, shade-wise is almost a cross between YSL #6 and MAC Creme Cup, though I didn't realize it until after I did the comparison below, so no photo comparisons, sorry! It also doesn't gather on dry areas or "goop" in the center of lips like so many lipsticks do with time. This is the only lipstick I've tried aside from the YSL that doesn't do that! If you look closely at the Lancome lipstick in the tube, it has a slight shimmer, but I don't find that it translates on lips at all as anything more than shine, which is great because I HATE shimmery lipstick!

Hard Candy Glow All the Way in Doll Face - looks scary straight from the tube, but gorgeous when blended!
Hard Candy Smooth Talker (sorry it looks messy from swatching!), Elf Face Booster

I'm really loving my purchases from the past month, not one regret or disappointment! I'm a little disappointed in MYSELF, though, because I've been trying to avoid buying products from brands that I know test on animals, and Aussie and Lancome both do according to PETA's list. I'm always trying to find a mascara that's better than Lancome Hypnose Drama for this reason, but so far I've been unsuccessful. : / I do think Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle is a great product, though, but isn't it ironic that a company with a kangaroo as a mascot tests on animals? I also really love the Lancome lipstick, too. It's usually easier than you'd think to buy from companies that don't test on animals, but occasionally I am tempted. It's definitely a personal decision, though, and I wouldn't think of judging anyone who purchases from companies that do. /endserioustalk ;)
Love you guys and talk to you soon!

It's so hard to avoid companies testing on animals though, theres so much conflicting information! I'm in the UK so as far as I can gather the EU is banning testing in the next few years but again, trying to find information written in language I can understand is hard to find! Well done on the efforts though, the thought is there :)
ReplyDeleteI love the elf boosters! Feels so good and lasts a long time.
ReplyDeleteI am DYING to get my hands on some Hard Candy products, but surprisingly (for the US) I DON'T live near a Wallmart. Hopefully this weekend I can pick some up.

the revlon lipstick looks really pretty! a shade i would def pick myself... and i'm really interested in the hard candy boxed blushes - i really want to try one!
ReplyDeleteLove everything you got in this post! I really hope I can find that Revlon lipstick soon. and I need to see that movie :)
ReplyDeleteThe Hard Candy powder reminds me of Benefit's Sugarbomb :) I've been looking for that Revlon lipstick! That's great that you are avoiding companies that do animal testing. I buy from Lancome occasionally, but wouldn't mind giving them up since there are so many other nice brands out there.
ReplyDeleteGreat haul! So much stuff.
ReplyDeleteVery jealous you got Tangled. It doesn't come out in NZ until May! So disappointing. I loved that movie, well - I love every disney movie really! haha :)
You are right it is hard to change to animal friendly products. Everyone I know thinks I am crazy but I don't care. I won't even buy a product whose parent company does animal testing. Meaning, nothing made by Unilever which includes brands such as Dove, Sunsilk, Vaseline etc. Though I have completely made the switch. Refuse to give one penny to these companies. I hope you find a replacement for the animal tested products soon.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you use a graphics program to resize your pics, and if so which one... but I do and I was noticing the same thing with the grainyness. I use Paint Shop Pro and it was set to resize using pixel resize, and I changed it to the smart size option... if you're using some other program it may be slightly different but I imagine the settings would have some kind of equivalent... just don't resize by resizing the pixels! Hope that helps!
